The age of models portraying natural photos is long over. Photoshop is king. Without Photoshop, we may actually see what they really look like. Women are still beautiful without it. There is a thing called natural beauty for a reason. Ashley Graham’s recent Maxim cover was obviously photoshopped to death. To the point where fans felt they need to speak out about it.
The funny part is she is taking all the heat from her photoshopped photo when it wasn’t even her choice! Maxim made the chief decision. Her fans are her fans because they love her natural form. She is the complete opposite of the Kate Moss type of models that are walking hangers.
She first came under fire when she posted the cover photo to her Instagram account. People immediately said that it looked “extremely photoshopped.” The weirdest part about the photo is the third breast that sprouted from the middle of her chest!
If you take a moment to compare the Maxim cover to her normal photos, you will see the glaringly obvious differences.
Even with all the haters, some fans still expressed their satisfaction with her picture. They think she is brave for representing full-figured models.
One fan showed her some love on Instagram with this comment,
“I’m so happy you’re part of the movement and an advocate for beauty that comes in different sizes, shapes, and colors.”
Other fans pointed to the fact that it wasn’t her fault. The finger should point to Maxim. It was their fault for minimizing her delicious curves.
In the end, if the cover was photoshopped, that’s a glorified bummer. It restricts the diversity in the modeling world. People aren’t only interested in skinny models. The modeling industry always forgets that people have different tastes. If you think about, who is skinny enough to wear the stuff most models pose? Almost nobody outside of the modeling world looks like that. Most people prefer to eat.
The big question is will this photoshopped photo tarnish her reputation? She is at the forefront of plus-sized supermodels. Most likely, people will forget about it once she continues putting out her non-photoshopped photos.
The beauty of Graham is she also designs swimsuits for the rest of the plus-sized women in the world.
Hopefully, magazines like Maxim will quit altering models’ photos. When they do a staggering amount of photoshop work without the model’s knowledge that is completely unfair. You’d think if they hired Graham, they’d have enough faith in her beauty to portray an accurate representation.
